This was a full property build - from the house all the way down to the lake. The challenge with a sloped, lakeside lot is that you have all this potential outdoor space, but without the right structure, it just stays unusable hillside. That's exactly what we were working with here.

We installed a multi-level paver patio system with two octagonal gathering areas connected by a paved walkway. The flagstone-style paver pattern with a clean contrasting border gives the whole thing a custom, high-end feel. Natural boulders were set throughout to frame each level and tie everything back into the surrounding landscape rather than fighting it.

Getting from the house down to the lake required stone steps that could handle the grade change without feeling like a fire escape. We set large natural slate-style steps flanked by boulders and filled the planting beds with a mix of gravel, mulch, and young perennials. It's built to look better every year as those plants fill in. Pathway lighting was tucked in along the steps and throughout the boulder beds so the whole space stays safe and usable after dark.

The lighting is where it all clicks. Once the sun drops, the low-voltage fixtures positioned along the steps, around the patio edges, and throughout the front boulder garden turn this into a completely different space. It has that warm, glowing look that makes you want to stay outside longer. The front entry got the same treatment - birch trees lit from below, boulders catching the light, everything balanced and intentional.

Projects like this one are why we do what we do. It's not just about making something look nice - it's about giving a family a real outdoor living space they'll use for decades. A place where people gather, relax, and actually spend time together.
